That means a lot, thank you :)
And the best answer I have is that I practiced a lot. I’m thankful to go to a studio that practices a lot, around 20 hours a week. But it’s also how you train in the classes you take. You could take class 40 hours a week but if you don’t have the right mindset you won’t learn a thing. You have to focus at practice and make the most of your time. I started really excelling in dance when I stopped socializing at dance. It sounds cliche but you really cannot goof off at dance if you want to get good.
Think of it in terms of academics. The people with the highest grade in your math or science classes have that grade because they:
1) Have some level of natural academic ability
2)Pay attention and behave in class
3)Do the homework, study the material and put in the necessary time outside of the classroom
The same applies to dancing. You have to stretch, work on your pointe, strengthen your core, etc.etc. and do this everyday.
You would never expect a 100% on a final exam without intense amounts of studying. And you cannot expect flawless dancing without intense dedication and practice.
I really hope that helped. And I’m sure you’re being too hard on yourself. If you want to talk more about this you can always message me on fb!
