Respect the Respectful; Disrespect the Disrespectful

Everyone is a Genius. Everyone is good at something.
What distinguishes one talented person from another is preference and opinion. And a preference for one genius doesn’t invalidate the others. A skilled painter or a mathematician. They’re both geniuses, but of different kind.

So don’t compare yourself to others. Everyone is good at their own thing.

We’re all geniuses in the area of being ourself!

Mood Swings….

I just realized why I should be grateful for my reactive, unpredictable mood.

Through my downs, I struggle. And through struggle, I learn.

Then it shifts and I’m happier than ever before.

I’m optimistic. And through my optimism, I apply what I learned in the struggle.

Life’s an oval.

Anonymous asked: I read your recent post about dancing, and I honestly don't think I have ever read anything that I related to so much before. Im a dancer, and I feel as if Im never good enough, and I wont ever make it anywhere, yet I still procede with dancing. Please tell me how you got SO good SO fast and how you caught up on technique so fast, when you just started a few years ago? Is it your studio? Teachers? Thanks:))

That means a lot, thank you :)

And the best answer I have is that I practiced a lot. I’m thankful to go to a studio that practices a lot, around 20 hours a week. But it’s also how you train in the classes you take. You could take class 40 hours a week but if you don’t have the right mindset you won’t learn a thing. You have to focus at practice and make the most of your time. I started really excelling in dance when I stopped socializing at dance. It sounds cliche but you really cannot goof off at dance if you want to get good.

Think of it in terms of academics. The people with the highest grade in your math or science classes have that grade because they:

1) Have some level of natural academic ability

2)Pay attention and behave in class

3)Do the homework, study the material and put in the necessary time outside of the classroom

The same applies to dancing. You have to stretch, work on your pointe, strengthen your core, etc.etc. and do this everyday.

You would never expect a 100% on a final exam without intense amounts of studying. And you cannot expect flawless dancing without intense dedication and practice.

I really hope that helped. And I’m sure you’re being too hard on yourself. If you want to talk more about this you can always message me on fb!

I would rather fail trying than regret not trying at all.

I never thought I was a good enough dancer to pursue a professional career. The little voice in my head always told me that someone else was always going to be better. “You won’t make it because you can’t possibly be better than them.”

Then I started to listen less carefully to that voice. I began to realize that most things are possible if you put in the necessary effort. If I work hard enough I can reach my goals, but I will never reach my goal standing still; immobile on the path to a goal I once wrote off as impossible.

I realize a goal like that is so hard to achieve, but at the end of the day you’re the one who has to live with the consequences of your decisions; Not anyone else.

The only way to know if a goal is attainable is trying to reach it.

It’s funny the people we choose to lead our days. The people whom we allow to influence our emotions; to make or break our days. It’s funny how so much can change in a day. How the present becomes the past in a day.

Don’t do love. Don’t do friends. I’m only after success. Don’t need a relationship. I’ll never soften my grip.
